More about World Harmony Sampler Sessions

For the price of a fancy mixed drink, each World Harmony Sampler offers musical, social, and cultural nourishment to help sustain hard-working folks in our community. The purpose is not to display musical perfection, but to experience a state of elevated harmony with each other through the medium of music.
  • We work with intent and focus, with desire rather than pressure.
  • We have an adventurous attitude and support each other in trying new sounds, movements, and expressions.
  • We laugh as we strive together and rejoice in our achievements.

The songs are our vehicle for a shared journey of renewal.

Samplers typically feature choral songs from cultures where oral traditions still thrive such as southern Africa, southern and eastern Europe, African-American and Applachian cultures, with occasional offerings from the Middle East, Asia, and other regions. Variety keeps it interesting and expands our musical and cultural experience. While some sounds may be unfamiliar, they are easily mastered through the natural process of mimicry. Movement is frequently incorporated so the music lives in the body as well as the brain. Instruments may add more dimensions. It all adds up to powerful medicine for these stressful times.
